Candler Park 30307
(City of Atlanta, DeKalb county)
Candler Park is a fun and funky neighborhood with a wonderful business district, several excellent parks, and some of the best Craftsman bungalow architecture in the city. Candler Park is truly a neighborhood where you can walk from your home to the corner cafe, a neighborhood park, and even to the MARTA station to travel by rail throughout the city.
The Cander Park business district stretches along McLendon Avenue from Little Five Points (McLendon at Euclid) to approximately Clifton Road. There is a second business district along DeKalb Avenue. Candler Park is known for its eclectic nature and that is represented in the businesses that call the neighborhood home. You can find everything from a great neighborhood market (with excellent wine selection) to a belly dancing studio. There are excellent restaurants, a wonderful art gallery, and even a bookstore where you can buy ice cream!
Candler Park is also home to excellent parks. The park that is the focal point of the neighborhood (Candler Park) is home to an executive length public golf course, a swimming pool, a new playground, tennis courts, and sports fields. The northern end of Candler Park joins up with The Path, a multi-use urban trail (non-motorized use only) that connects Downtown Atlanta with Decatur and continues out to Stone Mountain. The Path also connects with Freedom Park, a linear parkway surrounding the Jimmy Carter Center & Library. Other parks in the neighborhood include: Goldsboro Park (with tennis courts and a basketball court) and Iverson Park (great for playing frisbee with your dog).
